Buenos Aires, December 21 (NA) — The head of Turkey's National Intelligence Organization, Ibrahim Kalin, met in Istanbul with Khalil al-Hayya, a member of the Political Bureau and chief negotiator for Hamas, to discuss the implementation of the ceasefire in Gaza, reported Anadolu Agency, as learned by Argentine News Agency. During the meeting, al-Hayya affirmed that Hamas adheres to the terms of the agreement and denounced alleged Israeli violations, according to Turkish sources cited by the state agency. The talks focused on Turkey's role as a guarantor and on diplomatic efforts to sustain the truce. Second phase of the plan and pending negotiations Both parties evaluated conditions to advance to the second phase of the peace plan, including measures to resolve pending issues and unblock stalled negotiations. They also reiterated their support for Palestinian national reconciliation and the creation of an independent Palestinian state. In the next phase, both Israel and Hamas are expected to undertake complex commitments: the Palestinian group is expected to hand over territorial control and its weapons, while Israel should allow for an international security force to be in charge.
