Istanbul police have launched an urgent investigation following a poisoning incident of a young woman at a café in the Omer Afendi district. The 26-year-old victim was hospitalized in critical condition. Initial investigations revealed that the incident was caused by a shocking human error, where industrial dishwashing detergent was used instead of the usual substances to prepare the coffee. It turned out that a 50-year-old woman working at the café, which is run by her daughter, had filled cleaning supplies into bottles similar to those used for storing coffee. Following the investigation, law enforcement authorities arrested the 50-year-old man who prepared the coffee, as well as the 28-year-old owner of the café. The café was temporarily closed as a precaution. Meanwhile, the young victim continues to receive treatment in the intensive care unit. Security cameras in the café accurately captured the dramatic moments of the incident, from the preparation of the coffee to the victim's injury. The Director of Health for Istanbul stated that the victim's health condition has shown significant improvement, noting that she has taken positive steps towards recovery after being taken off a ventilator.
