As reported by the NTV television channel and other media, the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that he appealed to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin with a request for assistance in ensuring interaction between the Syrian government and Ankara for the normalization of relations. He expressed hope that Damascus would choose a constructive course.
"We ask the Russian president about this. If the Damascus government sends us a loyal message, new opportunities will open up," the words of the president are quoted.
