As a result of the fire that occurred in a hotel in the mountainous resort in central Turkey, 76 people died, stated Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya. The minister, who visited the scene of the incident, reported that the number of fatalities in the hotel increased to 76 and confirmed that at this moment 52 victims have been identified.

The minister noted that "the fire is currently under control, and the processes of evacuation are ongoing," confirmed that the fire started after the third hour of the night, and that 238 guests were in the luxurious hotel "Grand Kartal" on 12 floors in the mountainous resort of Kartalkaya, 170 kilometers from Ankara.

According to Turkish media reports, the fire quickly spread to another building due to wooden cladding on the outside, in photographs showing large tongues of flame rising from upper windows, roofs, and columns of black smoke. The cause of the fire is still unknown, however, survivors expressed anger and blamed the authorities.

According to the latest data, as a result of the fire in the hotel in the mountainous resort of Kartalkaya in the Turkish region of Bolu in the northwest of the country, 10 people died, and another 32 sustained injuries, reports Anadolu Agency. Yerlikaya pointed out in their statement on the platform "Exx" that the fire started in the hotel at night, adding that fire crews did not arrive at the scene in time to extinguish the flames, and work on their liquidation continues; the reasons for the incident have not been established.
