Turkey's Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday that a military transport plane carrying 20 people crashed on the border between Georgia and Azerbaijan while returning to the country. The ministry stated that the C-130 aircraft had taken off from Azerbaijan for its return to Turkey and was transporting 20 people, including crew members, confirming that search and rescue operations are underway. Turkey's Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya confirmed that his Georgian counterpart, Gela Jijadze, is on his way to the crash site. Georgia's Ministry of Interior stated in a statement that a 'Turkish military plane' heading to Turkey had crashed, noting that it fell 'about five kilometers from the Georgian border' with Azerbaijan.
