Exhibition Celebrating Rumi's Legacy Opens in Konya

The "Bayt al-Hikma" Museum continues its exhibition "Jalal ad-Din Rumi: 750 Years of Absence.. All Centuries of Presence," focusing on the legacy left by the Mevlevi in cultural heritage and human philosophy through his wise verses and ideas, emitting spiritual love, under the title "Eternal Legacy and Unfading Influence."

Visitors to the third section of the exhibition can see the unique manuscript of the Quran "Sanjak" or "Fragment of the Quran," dating back to the 10th century during the period of the Ottoman Empire. This manuscript, being one of the exhibited artifacts of the Mevlevi Museum in Konya, has a miniature size of four centimeters in diameter and received its name from the war tradition of the Ottomans, when soldiers carried it on the battlefields in search of protection and victory.

Furthermore, visitors will see the manuscript "Divan Sultan Walida," written by Jalal ad-Din Rumi in 768 AH. This manuscript is also from the collection of the Mevlevi Museum, containing verses and poetry reflecting the teachings of his father on detachment and divine love, as well as testifying to the continuing influences of Rumi through his family, disciples, and followers.

Among the exhibited artifacts in this section - "Chibuk" of Jalal ad-Din Rumi, a blue garment that dates back to the Seljuk period, from the collection of the Mevlevi Museum. It is presumed that Rumi wore this garment in daily life, at gathered zikrs and meditations, and it is distinguished by its simple design, long sleeves, and free cut, ensuring freedom of movement. Despite the passage of centuries, the "Chibuk" still remains in good condition, with standard restorations carried out for preserving this historical legacy.

The exhibition of this section includes a shelf with three artifacts, reflecting the life of the derwishes and their spiritual practices.
